THUNDER BAY — For the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic began, the North of Superior Film Association will resume the screening of films.
The fall season kicks off on Wed. Sept. 28 with Petite Maman, a French-language production directed by Céline Sciamma.
The 72-minute film, with English subtitles, has won rave reviews and awards around the world.
Described in a New York Times review as "enchanting," Petite Maman centres on a young girl who finds a mysterious new friend in a storybook forest.
The two children are exactly the same age, and bear a striking resemblance to one another.
"Incrementally, the girls' eerie similarities yield revelations that merge events of the past with those of the present," stated a NOSFA news release Monday.
A reviewer in The Guardian describes Petite Maman as a "beautiful fairytale reverie."
The film will be shown at SilverCity Thunder Bay on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. and again at 8:30 p.m.
All tickets to NOSFA screenings this year are $10, with no membership required.
Debit and major credit cards are preferred, but exact change will also be accepted.
NOSFA is just launching its new payment technology, and is asking patrons to be patient at the tills.
Upcoming films are scheduled for Oct. 12, Oct. 26 and Nov. 9.
