THUNDER BAY -- Cold weather will keep crossing guards and school buses off the streets Thursday morning.
The City of Thunder Bay has cancelled its school crossing guard service for the morning due to extreme cold weather. Student Transportation Services of Thunder Bay said all buses will be out of service for the morning run. Schools will remain open, however. Afternoon buses are expected to run as scheduled.
In the event of extreme cold weather, when temperatures combined with the wind chill factor is below -40 degrees Celsius, the City of Thunder Bay cancels service of the Adult School Crossing Guards to protect the health and safety of its staff members.
The temperature is about -33 C at 7 a.m.
