THUNDER BAY — Passengers visiting Thunder Bay on the cruise ship Hanseatic Inspiration are getting a chance to experience something not previously available to visitors docking at the Pool 6 terminal.
The ship arrived shortly before 9 a.m. Monday.
When the 230 European passengers disembark, they'll encounter a dockside market organized by the Transportation Museum of Thunder Bay, the operator of the Alexander Henry museum ship.
The visitors will be able to purchase goods from local artisans and other vendors.
The Hanseatic Inspiration is owned by Hapag-Lloyd, and is making two trips to Thunder Bay this season.
It is the second of a total of 15 cruise ship visits by four different vessels this year.
After clearing customs, the passengers will be taken on shore excursions including visits to Fort William Historical Park, Kakabeka Falls, and other local attractions.
Mayor Ken Boshcoff and city tourism manager Paul Pepe were scheduled to attend a mid-afternoon welcoming ceremony with Capt. Jorn Gottschalk.
The Hanseatic Inspiration was to depart Thunder Bay on Monday evening.
