THUNDER BAY – Robert Cumming is looking to march into the record books.

The six-time Strathcona Invitational champion, who won his most recent title in 2019, has advanced into Monday’s semifinal and will take on rising star Nathan Lepore in one of two matches that will set the afternoon’s championship match.

A pair of wins on the holiday Monday at the 95th annual event would give Cumming a record-tying seven wins, matching the record held by Barry Caland.

The other championship final features a pair of former Invitational winners, with Brett Shewchuk, who won three straight trophies from 2015 to 2017, squaring off against Scott Wilke, who brought home the title in 2022.

Caland, who is set to take part in the Manitoba senior golf championship, is in the senior final and will play John Shaw for the title.

In the super senior final, Bruce Dafoe will play Mark Willianien, and in the Masters championship it’s Brian Mallon up against Geoff Pattyson.
