A fibre and cable cut could leave TBayTel customers on the south side of the city without service Wednesday night.

The utility has crews stringing cable underground on Mountdale Avenue in an attempt to fix the problem, but spokesman Barry Streib said the loss of service is unavoidable.

Affected areas include Crooks Township, Highway 61, Kamview, Mink Mountain, Mudlake, Murillo, Neebing, Norwester, Pinedale, Riverdale, Rosslyn, Sistonens, South Gillies, Westfort and Whitefish.

“Services for our customers may be temporarily affected or interrupted. Some of the areas affected are estimated to be restored to full service by midnight tonight, while others are estimated to be restored by noon on Dec. 15,” Streib said in a release, adding later in the day that service has been restored for most customers.
