THUNDER BAY – The August 15 edition of the City of Thunder Bay’s Live on the Waterfront goes country with three-time Canadian Country Music Association Award nominee Dan Davidson.

Davidson is Alberta’s most awarded country sensation. He exploded onto the Canadian country scene in 2016 with the release of his second single “Found” (co-written by Clayton Bellamy of The Road Hammers), which rocketed up the charts, making Davidson the number one charting indie artist in Canada. The future is bright for Davidson. In only two years of being involved in the country music scene, he has been nominated for three CCMA Awards (Songwriter and Rising Star, twice) and his name can be seen on the charts next to some of the top artists in North America. Most importantly, Davidson has found a way to do it independently, a trait that allowed him to take home the Edmonton Music Prize earlier this year.

Alberta-born country singer Sykamore is also on next Wednesday’s bill. Sykamore is noted for her superior writing skill and raw performance style. She has been creating music since 2012, releasing her debut indie album “Petal” in the summer of 2013. Nominated for the Discovery Award at the 2016 CCMA Awards, Sykamore has performed and shared bills with Canadian music heavyweights and Juno winners such as Paul Brandt, Tebey, MacKenzie Porter, Lindi Ortega and Adam Cohen.

Rounding out the entertainment for the evening on the OPG Community Stage is opener and local folk favourites Greenbank.

Live on the Waterfront, presented by Ontario Power Generation and funded in part by the Government of Ontario, runs 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. every Wednesday in Marina Park until the end of August. Admission is free.
