THUNDER BAY -- The daughter of a Thunder Bay man found dead in an East End residence this week is welcoming the arrest of the person accused of killing him.
Joseph Harry Pruys Sr., 63, was found dead Monday at a residence on McLaughlin Street.
The suspect in the case, 31-year-old Charles Norman Casmey, was apprehended by Thunder Bay Police assisted by Ontario Provincial Police at a home in the 500 block of McTavish Street Thursday evening.
Casmey had barricaded himself in a residence in the same neighbourhood where the homicide occurred. He exited and gave himself up peacefully within an hour.
He was to appear in court Friday charged with second-degree murder, assault causing bodily harm, and failure to comply with a recognizance.
In an interview Friday morning, the victim's daughter, Brandy Oldale, said "I was crying last night. And I'm so grateful that he's been arrested."
Oldale added "I hope the justice system serves my dad well."
She said the coroner has told her that her father died from multiple stab wounds.
A police spokesperson declined to say Friday whether police recovered any weapons during Casmey's arrest.
The funeral service for Pruys will be held Saturday.
