Some McIntyre Ward residents continue to voice their concerns about cross-Canada transport traffic on Dawson Road.
The issue was the focus of a Ward meeting Wednesday night.
Coun. Trevor Giertuga said while cross-Canada truck traffic makes up 10 per cent of all traffic in the area, it accounts for 20 per cent of collisions.
“I’m hoping we can take a stand here and divert the truck traffic to the Shabaqua extension,” he told CKPR Radio during an interview after the Ward meeting.
“It’s a safer route.”
City staff is expected to bring forward some options to council on Feb. 6, including weight and length restrictions.
