THUNDER BAY – A dead puppy that died of starvation and was found in George Burke Park has the Ontario SPCA and Thunder Bay and District Humane Society looking for answers.

In a release issued on Friday morning, Humane Society officials say the dog’s body was dumped along a walking path in a wooded area of the park, behind Tamarack Place.

The call came in on Feb. 1 from a resident.

The dog, a six-month-old black and tan female shepherd-type breed, was found by local students. It was wearing a red and black plaid collar.

“If you heard or saw anything, or if you know who owns this dog, please come forward with that information,” says Lynn Michaud, a senior inspector with the Ontario SPCA.

“The puppy’s death was senseless and inhumane. We would like to bring the person, or persons, responsible to justice.”

Anyone with information is asked to phone Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS or 310-7722.
