THUNDER BAY — The city is accepting applications for its Clean, Green and Beautiful project.

The grant project, says the committee chair, Stephen Margarit, is to help beautify the city with high-impact or long-term projects.

"Whether that's business, whether that's a neighbourhood or a part of the city, we're looking at some really great little projects to make some minor adjustments or some upgrades to local areas to really enhance sort of the city's commitment to Clean, Green and Beautiful."

"Two years ago, the Waterfront BIA applied for some planters to put some flowers and sort of green and brighten up the downtown area down there along Red River . . . One of the projects there was some banners in the downtown south core and also looking at moving one of the signs from Victoriaville and putting it in Victoriaville Park.

"Big or small . . . whether it's public art, whether it's to sort of 'green-up' the city if you will, just ways to sort of tidy up and make a little bit of an impact throughout the community."

Project grants are typically approved up to $5,000. However, Margarit said larger projects will also be considered.

The deadline to apply is June 24 through the city's website
