The successful bid was well under the city's budget for the project.

THUNDER BAY — The demolition of the Dease Pool will begin in about two weeks.

The City of Thunder Bay has awarded the job to Hachey & Sons Contracting.

Ron Furioso, construction services supervisor for the city, says the demolition will start after the Labour Day weekend.

Hachey's bid of $58,700 was the lowest among the seven contractors who submitted proposals.

That's well under the $200,000 the city had budgeted for the project.

Demolition and cleanup will be completed before Oct. 23.
