Elwood appeared briefly by video from the Thunder Bay District Jail before a justice of the peace.

In a separate matter, Elwood is also facing charges related to a series of armed robberies that took place between April 14 to April 23 across the GTA.
According to a Toronto Police Service media release, there were 14 armed robberies including carjackings that took place throughout the Toronto area at various gas station convenience stores.
Elwood also faces a charge of conspiracy to commit an indictable offence, nine counts of robbery with a firearm, robbery with an offensive weapon, two counts of robbery, 12 counts of disguise with intent, three counts of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, 60 counts of failing to comply with probation and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.
