The chief of the Superior North EMS supports the federal commitment to have defibrillators in hockey arenas.
Chief Norm Gale says the Tory-led federal government is helping to save lives by spending the $10 million on having the defibrillators installed.
“Defibrillators save lives,” he said during an interview with CKPR Radio Friday. “People who take a CPR course are able to use a defibrillator and will make a difference.”
Gale said more than 150 of the devices have already been installed in Thunder Bay, including all of the area’s arenas. Those devices were installed thanks to a partnership with the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
Gale added that the devices should be just as available as fire extinguishers.
