THUNDER BAY -- A pair of rail cars carrying grain went off the tracks in the city Tuesday morning.

The two cars remained upright after derailing while crossing Maureen Street, blocking the road for several hours as crews worked to fix the problem.

CN Rail spokeswoman Lindsay Fedchyshyn said no injuries were reported and the cars weren't carrying dangerous goods.

"Switching, moving one train to another that's when it occurred. How it occurred exactly what was the issue, that's under investigation," she said.

The derailment didn't cause too much of a disruption to operations as crews were able to work around the cars, Fedchyshyn said.
