THUNDER BAY -- Details can now be worked out on a plan to move the Thunder Bay Art Gallery to the waterfront.

The city would lease land just South of Prince Arthur's Landing should the gallery get funding to build a new facility. City manger Tim Commisso said there is $570,000 of city money available but only if the art gallery's applications to FedNor and the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund are successful.

"The city's money won't get spent if they don't get the funding," he said.

City council voted Monday to sign a letter of intent with the art gallery. Administration can now work out details like parking, site servicing and other parts of the deal.

"Sort of the various elements that form part of our land lease," he said.

Details that can be will be made public once they're available Commisso said.
