Preparations have begun for the Dew Drop Inn's annual Christmas Day Dinner.

On Thursday the turkeys went into the oven for the dinner that is expected to feed up to 350 people.

More than 20 volunteers will help put on the event, working long hours getting everything ready for Christmas Day. Dew Drop Inn director Terri Favreau said today's job was all about the turkeys.

Six, 30-pound birds were put in the oven this afternoon, with the hams to come later.

Friday is when all the trimmings will be prepped, and on Dec. 25 it will be time to serve dinner to hundreds of the city's less-fortunate.

The Dew Drop Inn's Dinner begins at 2:30 p.m. on Christmas Day and goes until 4.  The Thunder Bay Shelter House also has a dinner planned for Christmas Day at 2 p.m.
