A pair of murder suspects charged in separate cases appeared in court Monday morning.

Jeffrey Morris Kakegamic, 32, was charged with second-degree murder and two counts of breach of probation in connection with the death of Martin Fabian Achneepineskum.

Kakegamic appeared at the Ontario Court of Justice Monday and was remanded in custody until May 13.

Achneepineskum was stabbed to death in McIntyre Street residence on Dec. 2. Police said the two Thunder Bay men knew each other and alcohol was a factor.

According to city police, at about 3:25 p.m. on Dec. 2 officers responded to a call about a man being attacked within a residence in the 200 block of McIntyre Street. Upon arrival officers found an injured 48-year-old male, who was taken to hospital where he died a short time later.

Kimberly Fox also appeared in court Monday for her alleged role in the death of 28-year-old Moses Meekis Kakekagumick.

Fox was charged with aggravated assault and breach of probation after an incident on Dec. 29 on Brant Street.

The assault victim in that incident later died in the hospital. Fox now faces a charge of second-degree murder.

She was remanded in custody until May 1.

In both cases lawyers required more time to prepare.

None of the charges against the accused have been proven in court.
