Thunder Bay’s drinking water scores high in terms of overall quality, a recent report concluded.

In a report by the province's chief drinking water inspector, Thunder Bay, along with the rest of the province, scored high when it comes to water quality tests, inspection and performance. Thunder Bay received a near perfect rating, which means the city met all the requirements as inspected by the Ministry of Environment.

The City of Thunder Bay’s manager of the environment division, Kerri Marshall, said the city’s success comes from being situated on the shoreline of Lake Superior.

Overall Thunder Bay scored higher than the provincial average. Marshall added that has a lot to do with the city's Bear Point Water Treatment Plant.

Marshall said the city is always looking to improve the quality of its drinking water.
