THUNDER BAY — A man was arrested after being found unresponsive behind the wheel of a vehicle parked overnight at the Thunder Bay Police Service’s station on Monday.
Primary response officers, in a media release issued that afternoon, said they observed the man asleep in the driver’s seat of a suspicious vehicle parked in a spot reserved for the police shortly before 2:45 a.m.
After speaking to the man, officers allegedly observed multiple signs of impairment, leading to his arrest and police escorting him into the station, where police say he further refused to comply with the demands of a drug recognition expert officer.
The 38-year-old man, who was not identified by police, has since been charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and refusing to comply with a demand.
He also had a 90-day license suspension and a seven-day vehicle impoundment.
The police have released the man on an undertaking and he has a future court appearance date.
