Driver badly injured in collision near Rossport (3 photos)

A man was airlifted to Thunder Bay with serious injuries

ROSSPORT, Ont. — One person suffered serious injuries in a single-vehicle collision on Highway 17 near Rossport on Wednesday.

Shortly before noon, an eastbound pickup truck left the road and struck a rock cut in the south-side ditch, trapping the driver inside.

The accident occurred at the top of Cavers Hill, between Pays Plat and Gravel River.

Traffic was stopped for about an hour while Schreiber volunteer firefighters worked to extricate the injured man from the vehicle.

He was flown to Thunder Bay hospital on an Ornge air ambulance.

The man is said to be a resident of southern Ontario.
