A Thunder Bay bus driver is warning transit riders to “get good shoes.”

The driver, who asked to remain anonymous, said it’s 99.9 per cent certain transit workers will walk off the job and hit the picket lines on Wednesday morning.

Last week Amalgamated Transit Union officials told city administrators that if a deal could not be reached by Tuesday at midnight, workers would go on strike.

The driver said he’s been told to pick up picketing signs at the transit garage and begin picketing at city hall at 8 a.m.

City officials are believed to be working on a last-ditch effort to avoid a strike and are expected to meet with union leaders ahead of the midnight deadline.
