Police have confirmed drowning to be the cause of death in a cliff-jumping accident last weekend.

Dau Huston, 21, and a friend went to a swimming hole about 20 minutes upstream from the Mackenzie Inn around 2:30 p.m. Saturday.

The pair took turns jumping off the cliff into the water. Police say on Huston’s second turn he jumped off and went into the water but did not resurface.

OPP Sgt. Rob McDonough said the friend went to look for Huston when he didn’t come back up and found him farther downstream face-down in the water.

The friend noticed Huston was not breathing so he started CPR and asked some nearby people to call for help.

Huston was pronounced dead at the scene.
