Drug and weapons charges laid against southern Ontario man

THUNDER BAY — A resident of the Greater Toronto Area faces multiple charges following an investigation by the Thunder Bay Police Service.

According to TBPS, its intelligence unit became aware of a male suspected of being linked to drug trafficking and learned he was expected to travel to the city on the Victoria Day weekend.

Officers arrested him on Saturday morning.

He was allegedly found in possession of a loaded handgun and quantities of suspected cocaine, crack cocaine and fentanyl with an estimated street value of $78,000.

The charges against the 27-year-old from Brampton man include:

  • possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking
  • possession of fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking
  • possession of a prohibited weapon
  • unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • carrying a concealed weapon
  • possession of proceeds of crime under $5,000
  • breach of a release order

The accused appeared in court and was remanded into custody with a future appearance date.
