Police seized a loaded handgun during a drug trafficking investigation, according to the OPP.

THUNDER BAY — Ontario Provincial Police say they targeted multiple locations during a drug trafficking investigation.

On July 17 and 18, OPP executed multiple search warrants after a probe was launched in April; two homes in Thunder Bay, a vehicle and a mobile trailer in Kakabeka Falls were part of the search.

During the raids, police said investigators seized a handgun, fake identification, cash, multiple cell phones and a motorcycle.

Police also located multiple illicit items, including suspected cocaine, fentanyl, methamphetamine, oxycodone tablets and other drug trafficking paraphernalia. The estimated street value of the drugs is $27,000, police said.

A 43-year-old man from Red Rock is being charged with six offences, a 39-year-old woman from Nipigon is facing five charges, and two Thunder Bay residents, aged 57 and 29, are facing two charges related to the investigation.

Two of the accused were remanded into custody, while the other two were released. They all have future court dates.

The OPP is asking if anyone has information about the possession, manufacturing, or trafficking of illegal drugs or firearms to contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or ontariocrimestoppers.ca.

It is Newswatch policy not to name people facing criminal accusations when we are unlikely to follow the case to its conclusion in the courts.
