(EAR FALLS, ON) – In the early morning hours of October 24, 2015, officers from the Red Lake Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police were conducting a RIDE (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) check on Highway 105 in the Municipality of Ear Falls.
At that time, officers observed a vehicle turn down a near-by street, avoiding the RIDE check. Further investigation led officers to speak with a male driver who had been drinking. A roadside test was performed on the male subject, and a fail was registered. The male was returned to the detachment for further tests.
A 26-year-old man from Kelowna, B.C., has been charged with Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle contrary to section 253(1)(a) of the Criminal code and Operation of a motor vehicle with Over 80 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood contrary to section 253(1)(b) of the Criminal Code. He was released by way of a Promise to Appear in Red Lake court on December 10, 2015 to answer to the charges.
