DRYDEN, Ont. — A Dryden man who allowed three deer to spoil has been fined a total of $5,300 and suspended from big game hunting for an extended period.

Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry conservation officers executed a search warrant at a local residence last May, and found a small buck, a doe and a fawn spoiling in a shed.

The officers determined that the deer had been hunted the previous fall, and that the fawn was killed without a licence.

All three animals had been field-dressed and left to hang in the shed over the winter.

According to MNRF, as spring temperatures rose, the deer began to spoil until they became unsafe to eat.

The hunter pleaded guilty in court to unlawfully permitting flesh to become unsuitable for human consumption, and was fined $4,500.

He was fined a further $800 for hunting without a licence.

The Justice of the Peace also handed down a four-year suspension from hunting big game.
