RED LAKE, Ont. – Ontario Provincial Police slapped an e-bike operator with impaired driving charges in Red Lake last week.
OPP officers in the community, located about 550 kilometres west of Thunder Bay, initiated a traffic stop on a local man riding an electric bicycle around 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
Police determined the man, 46, had been consuming alcohol after stopping him on Highway 105. The man was placed under arrest and returned to the Red Lake OPP detachment for further testing after failing a breath sample.
As a result, he now faces charges of operation while impaired, with a blood concentration over 80 milligrams.
He has since been released with a court appearance scheduled for Nov. 12.
