An Ear Falls, Ont. man is dead, the result of an all-terrain vehicle mishap Saturday near Marathon.

Sixty-three-year-old James Buckner was killed while driving on a downhill trail and failed to negotiate a curve, sending him hurtling down a steep embankment.

He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the incident.

OPP officers from both the Marathon and Manitouwadge detachments attended the scene, along with emergency crews from Superior North EMS and the Marathon Fire Department.

Buckner was working for Stillwater Canada Inc. on their property, located about five kilometres northeast of Highway 17 and Peninsula Road in Marathon.

Because it was a work-related accident, the Ministry of Labour has been called in to investigate. A post-mortem is scheduled to determine the exact cause of death.
