Police are investigating a single-vehicle crash that left a man dead early Tuesday morning.

Thunder Bay Police Service officials say the traffic unit is now investigating the fatal crash that took place on Algoma Street North and Red River Road just after midnight.

Police say Timothy McLellan, 52, of Thunder Bay, died at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre after being transported there from the scene of the collision.

Police say it appears the 2010 Dodge pickup truck that McLellan drove lost control as he travelled north on Algoma Street North. The vehicle then collided with a retaining wall of a church at that intersection.

No other details have been released at this time and police continue to investigate.
