Early morning fires destroy two garages

THUNDER BAY - Fire crews were kept busy early Sunday morning responding to two separate garage fires on the city's south side.

According to a Thunder Bay Fire Rescue media release, crews responded to reports of a garage fire on the 700 block of McIntosh Street at approximately 4:30 a.m.

The garage was fully involved in flames when crews arrived on the scene and the fire was soon brought under control.

Not long after, reports came in of a second garage fire on the 100 block of Mary Street East. Once again, the garage was found fully involved in flames by arriving fire crews.

Fire crews quickly had the second fire under control and no other nearby structures were damaged.

Both garages sustained heavy damage but there were no reports of injuries.

The cause of the fires is under investigation.
