EcoSuperior Media Release

Change is challenging. But EcoSuperior Environmental Programs will inspire 150 youth from across Northwestern Ontario to meet the challenge and create positive change through action.

In a recent news release from the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, EcoSuperior was acknowledged as one of 10 Partners in Climate Action Grants recipients.  The purpose of the granting funds is to support Ontario’s goals for greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reductions by engaging Ontarians in climate change action.

In partnership with the government of Ontario and the Northern Ontario Education Leaders, EcoSuperior has designed a two-tiered project to bring youth voice to the forefront of climate action while supporting Ontario’s commitment to GHG emission reductions.  The project, titled Agents of Change, Climate Action Project, launches with a Climate Action Conference, to be hosted in Thunder Bay to engage students in climate change education, leadership skills and action campaign development.  Phase two will see students return to their home communities to implement a climate action project that will ultimately contribute to a reduction in GHG emissions.

“School Action Campaigns may include; school wide composting, anti-idling, energy conservation, school yard greening or local food choices,” says Program Coordinator Erin Moir  “We look forward to working with students schools across Northwestern Ontario to support Ontario’s climate change commitments”.
