EcoSuperior hires a new leader

THUNDER BAY — The board of directors of EcoSuperior has hired Sue Hamel as the organization's new executive director.

The Thunder Bay-based non-profit organization provides education and resources to the public to promote environmental stewardship.

Hamel succeeds Ellen Mortfield, who has relocated to her home community near Kingston after a 24-year-career with EcoSuperior.

With degrees in education, geography and outdoor recreation, parks & tourism, Hamel taught for 18 years at Lakehead University.

She has also been an environmental educator in Canada, the US, Kenya and Botswana.

Most recently, Hamel launched Seek Adventures & Tours, a business that offers guided experiential walking food tours in Thunder Bay neighbourhoods, as well as guided hikes in nearby natural areas.
