Eight-year-old dies in Rushing River Provincial Park

Police say the victim was the subject of an extensive search at the park, located southeast of Kenora.

KENORA, Ont. – Ontario Provincial Police are investigating the tragic death of an eight-year-old boy at Rushing River Provincial Park.

Police, in a release issued on Sunday morning, say they responded to a missing person’s report at the park, conducted a search involving the emergency response team, the K9 unit, the Kenora marine and trails unit and park staff, and the boy was located deceased.

The investigation continues.

Police say the identity of the boy will not be released at this time.

They are asking anyone with information to phone OPP at 1-888-310-1122.

A post-mortem has been scheduled.
