THUNDER BAY – Elevate NWO is asking for the public’s assistance to help raise funds to cover the cost of repairs for their mobile outreach van.
The mobile outreach van is a 16-year-old recommissioned ambulance donated by the City of Thunder Bay.
Since 2017, the van has received a face lift and was put to work to help serve the people of Thunder Bay.
The outreach van better allows Elevate NWO to provide safety and warmth for people living on the streets to receive health care, testing and resources.
During a routine check-up this month, it was discovered that the outreach van would require $5,000 in repairs. These repairs are needed to ensure the van can stay on the road.
Due to this unforeseen expense, Elevate NWO is asking the community to help raise funds to cover the cost of repairs.
For those wishing to donate, a gofundmepage has been set up.
Any additional funds raised above and beyond will be used to purchase needed supplies like socks, gloves to be given out from the van during outreach. The agency would be very grateful if people could share the appeal to their networks.
This call for donations also aligns in timing with the 2nd Annual Red Scarf Gala on Nov. 29 at the Black Pirates Pub to mark World AIDS Day.
This event will feature drag performers as well as musical act, Morning Light.
