THUNDER BAY – City police say they’re looking for a suspicious male who allegedly got out of his vehicle on Wednesday afternoon and followed an 11-year-old girl as she walked near the intersection of Clarkson and Windsor streets.

In a release issued on Thursday afternoon, police say the suspect got out of a black car at about 6:45 p.m., with dark tinted windows.

As the girl began to run toward the Boys and Girls club, the man picked up his pace and began to run, until a passerby on a bike went by. At this point the suspect went back to his vehicle and the girl entered the Boys and Girls Club, who called police.

The girl was not injured.

The suspect is described as standing 5-foot-8 with a medium build and a full, short trim beard, short dark hair and tanned skin. He was wearing grey jeans and a black sweater.

Police are hoping to speak to anyone who may have been in the area between 6:30 p.m. and 6:45 p.m. who either witnessed the incident or saw the vehicle in question.

Police would especially like to speak to the person who drove by on the bicycle.

The investigation is ongoing.
