EMO, Ont. - Patients at staff at the Emo Health Centre are being evacuated due to the failure of the air conditioning system.
Riverside Health issued a Code Green on Thursday morning after the system failed. Temperatures in Emo Thursday afternoon feel like 25 degrees with the humidex.
Because of the warm weather and the limitations of the backup air conditioning, staff and patients are being evacuated and temporarily relocated to a vacant unit at the Rainycrest Long-term Care Home for safety reasons.
All COVID-19 precautions are being followed and the area at Rainycrest has a separate entrance.
A new air conditioning system is to be installed at the Emo Health Centre but it may take up to eight weeks to complete.
The Emo Health Centre will continue to operate out of the Rainycrest Long-Term Care Home until installation is complete.
Services in the basement of the Emo Health Centre have not been affected.
