Erratic driving leads to impaired charges

A Rainy River resident faces impaired driving charges following a traffic stop over the weekend.

RAINY RIVER, Ont. – A traffic stop by OPP early Saturday morning has led to impaired driving charges for a Rainy River resident.

Rainy River Ontario Provincial Police conducted a traffic stop with a driver to investigate erratic driving behaviour on Feb. 15 around 1 a.m.

An investigation was conducted and the officer arrested the driver for being impaired.

As a result, a 52-year-old Rainy River resident has been charged with operating a conveyance while ability impaired by drugs or alcohol and operating a conveyance with 80 or more milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood.

The OPP is committed to safety for all who utilize Ontario's roadways. Members of the public are urged to report Impaired Driving by calling 911 in emergency situations. Complaints of impaired, aggressive or careless driving can also be made by calling 1-888-310-1122.
