THUNDER BAY - A local anti-poverty group is inviting Thunder Bay residents to envision a better Canada post-COVID-19.

Advocacy coalition Poverty Free Thunder Bay will host a virtual meeting Wednesday afternoon. The event will open with a talk from former MP and Lakehead professor emeritus Ernie Epp on the possibilities of fair taxation, and progress to a collaborative discussion.

"COVID-19 has shaken everything up and brought to light the inequities that have been hidden from mainstream society," event organizers say. "Now is the time to get together to begin visioning our ideal Canada."

The discussion will centre on questions about lessons learned from the COVID-19 pandemic, and what's needed to create a better Canada for everyone.

The meeting will be held over Zoom at 3 p.m. on Wednesday. Those interested in attending can email povertyfreetb@gmail.com - details on how to join the meeting will be shared on the day of the event.
