Confederation College Media Update
THUNDER BAY, ON, December 6, 2016 – The third-year Business Administration – Marketing students hosted a night of FUNN for students and industry leaders to network and for students to learn about placement opportunities for their chosen career paths.
The FUNN (Functional Unity Networking Night) took place at Confederation College in the Ryan Hall Cafeteria from 5-8pm. Tickets were just $10 and all proceeds are being donated to Confederation College’s Emergency Student Food Bank and the Boys and Girls Clubs of Thunder Bay.
“As a third-year Marketing student participating in the work placement program, I felt that I didn’t know what to expect throughout the interview process of the placement positions I had applied for,” said Ashley Cook, a third-year Business Administration – Marketing student.
“FUNN will give students an advantage in their placement year by providing them with a better understanding of what types of interview questions will asked based on their specific career path, what employers are looking for in a candidate and what their expectations of placement students are. This is truly a great opportunity for students to speed network with a variety of employers and I only wish that I had something like this available to help me prepare.”
FUNN will present students with an opportunity to interact with future workplace employers through a combination of speed networking and booths and become motivated by powerful guest speakers and industry leaders of what is to come within their chosen careers.
The event was fully organized by the students as part of their Events and Sports Marketing class.
“Being able to provide students with practical hands-on learning experiences is what the College is all about,” said Kristina Baraskewich, Instructor, Business Marketing programs.
“As a course requirement the students were tasked with developing a concept, then organizing, planning and implementing it for their fall semester. It is especially great to see that the students chose to develop an initiative which focused on helping their fellow students, by linking them to their future career paths.”
