Event not just for runners

A popular event which sees around 1,000 women make their way around Boulevard Lake together every year has a new concept this time around.

The 31st annual version of the Women's United Run includes the slogan "Stroll or Roll 2010". Run Coordinator Art Lannon said they changed the name because the event is not just for runners. People can also participate by walking, pushing a stroller, cycling, rollerblading or using a skateboard.

In the past 10 years, the event has raised over $200,000 in support of local women. This year, local singer/songwriter Shy-Anne Hovorka will be performing. The event begins at 9:30 a.m. on May 8 at Boulevard Lake.

Those interested in signing up can do so by visiting the Royal LePage office on Barton Street.
