THUNDER BAY – Exploring historical, architectural and cultural sites in Thunder Bay both in-person and through digital experiences for 2022.
Significant historical, architectural and cultural sites in and around Thunder Bay will open their doors to the public on Saturday, Sept.10 from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m., during Doors Open Thunder Bay. Facilitated by the City of Thunder Bay’s Heritage Advisory Committee, this event gives participants an opportunity to explore Thunder Bay’s rich cultural heritage through both architecture and landscapes.
“Doors Open Thunder Bay 2022 explores our roots in agriculture. Sixteen sites in and around the city are opening their doors to welcome residents and visitors alike an opportunity explore some very interesting buildings, properties and farming landscapes. There are also three sites that will share their stories in a digital format,” said Laurie Abthorpe, Doors Open Thunder Bay Coordinator. “This event is a fantastic way to experience first-hand our community’s history, heritage, and culture– all free of charge. It is our hope that many will visit both in-person and online.”
Printed event guides are currently available at City Hall, City of Thunder Bay Archives, and The Thunder Bay Tousit Pagoda. Event guides will also be available at all participating sites the day of the event.
