THUNDER BAY — A weather system marked by unseasonably high temperatures will settle over Thunder Bay the middle of this week.

Environment Canada is calling for at least five straight days on which the thermometer will top out around 30 C.

That's well above the normal maximum of about 22 C at this time of year.

Meteorologist Peter Kimball says he expects most residents to welcome the change of fortune from the spring weather pattern.

"We haven't seen a lot of warm weather...it's been cool across the board in Ontario," Kimball said.

Even though Tuesday's forecast high is only 23 C, he said the humidex will make it feel considerably warmer.

"Officially we're saying 26 but it could go even higher than that. But then the temperatures really climb for Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and into the weekend, with 30 degrees most days."

"That's well above normal...finally," Kimball noted.
