THUNDER BAY – A brief reprise from Arctic temperatures is over.
According to Environment Canada, Thunder Bay is once again under another extreme cold warning, with wind-chill temperatures expected to plunge to -45 C to -50 C.
Tuesday’s forecasted high is -19 C, with a low of -27 C. Wednesday’s high is -21 C and a high of -19 C is called for on Thursday, with a low of -29 C.
“Wind chill values of this magnitude are relatively rare for this region and are extremely dangerous,” the warning states.
“These extreme cold wind chill values will continue through much of the week.”
As per policy, Student Transportation Services of Thunder Bay determines at 6 a.m. on Wednesday whether or not school buses will operate, and only do so if wind chill values are above -40 C. However, because of high school exams in progress, the STSTB on Tuesday said secondary school buses will run on Wednesday regardless of the outside temperature.
