The Fort Frances airport is facing a deficit, and is now looking to neighbouring municipalities for help.

Town officials said the airport is used by more than just Fort Frances, and Mayor Roy Avis says it provides many services.

“We are carrying around a deficit of about $250,000,” Avis said.

“(The airport) is used mostly for medivac, which is a real asset to the region. If we ever lost it we would be in real trouble because we would be losing our ambulance services.”

Avis added that the airport will also go after other levels of government for help.

Fort Frances has not heard a response from surrounding communities in the area.
