Area residents said they spotted and possibly touched body in the water near Marina Park Sunday, but police on Monday said the report turned out to be false.

Thunder Bay Police Service received the report about a possible body found near the shore of Lake Superior near Marina Park on Saturday.

Police officers say people were swimming in the lake and thought they felt something in the water, which they believed could have been a body.

Police officers were dispatched, and with the help of divers they searched the area on Sunday.

The search turned up nothing and on Monday officials with the city police confirmed that the reports had been inaccurate.
