TAMPA BAY – Thunder Bay’s Ryan Fanti joined Tuesday’s free-agent frenzy.

Fanti inked a one-year, $775,000, two-way contract with the Tampa Bay Lightning

The fourth-year pro originally signed with the Edmonton Oilers after finishing his college career at the University of Minnesota-Duluth, and then signed a free agent deal last summer with the Syracuse Crunch, the American Hockey League affiliate of the Lightning.

In seven games with the Crunch last season, Fanti posted a 1.45 goals against average and a .946 save percentage, going 3-1-0 between the pipes.

He spent most of the season with the ECHL’s Orlando Solar Bears, where he was 8-13-5 with a 2.71 goals against average in 37 appearances.
