Dozens of people hit the catwalk to help others at a local fashion show this weekend.

Nearly 200 people cheered on models for the fifth annual Passion for Fashion Show in support of the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada’s Thunder Bay chapter. It was also a chance for local shops to show off their new collections. Honourary chair Clint Harris said the event, hosted at the Travelodge Airlane, had 40 more people attending than it did last year.

“That’s great news,” he said.

Society chair Linda Adamson said people return every year with friends to keep the event growing.

“They come back because they love it,” she said. “It just grows every year.”

The show itself is also growing. What started as a fashion show for women has turned into an event featuring clothes for everyone. That showed in the models as well as the ages ranged from 15 months to over 60. The $10,000 raised stays in the community to help the society with research as well as client services.

“The things people with MS need,” Adamson said.

And while landmark businesses like J.B. Evans has been a supporter from the beginning, the show is a chance for newer places like Perfect Fit Lingerie to be seen as well.

“It’s important for new business in town to be noticed,” Harris said.
