Two people are dead after a serious motor vehicle collision on the Thunder Bay Expressway.

The OPP confirmed that one person was pronounced dead at the scene of the early Saturday morning two-vehicle collision, which occurred between Arthur Street and the Harbour Expressway, and that another succumbed to injuries in hospital.

Both occupants of one of the vehicles, the 28-year-old male driver and 28-year-old female passenger, are deceased.

The driver of the second vehicle suffered non-life threatening injuries.

The collision took place around 3 a.m.

The Expressway was closed for a significant portion of the morning and afternoon while investigators were on the scene. It was reopened around 3:30 p.m.
