Fatal Dryden fire under investigation

Fire that claimed life of 13-year-old boy in Dryden on Wednesday being investigated by Ontario Fire Marshal.

DRYDEN, Ont. – Authorities are investigating after a fire claimed the life of a 13-year-old boy in Dryden earlier this week.

The Dryden Fire Service received multiple calls about a fire at an apartment complex on Clearwater Crescent just before 3 p.m. on Wednesday.

Crews arrived to find heavy fire and smoke, and later located the deceased inside of the building.

The deceased has been identified as Evan Loyal Maio Wesley by family on social media.

An online fundraiser for the family had raised over $10,000 within a day of the tragedy.

The fire caused heavy damage to one apartment unit, and the remaining three units suffered smoke and water damage.

Investigators with the office of the Ontario Fire Marshal have arrived in Dryden to carry out a full investigation, with assistance from the OPP.
