Fatality reported in Marathon-area industrial accident

Labour ministry was told a worker was pinned by a steel bridge component.

MARATHON, Ont. — The Ministry of Labour is investigating a fatality which occurred Wednesday at a construction site near Marathon.

A spokesperson says the ministry was told a worker was installing a temporary steel bridge when the bridge shifted and pinned the worker.

Ontario Provincial Police said the incident occurred at Angler Creek on Highway 17, just west of Marathon.

A labour ministry inspector was en route to the accident site Wednesday afternoon.

Traffic on the Trans-Canada Highway was restricted to one lane.
